Hosts or Hostesses welcome, seat, and interact with guests upon arrival. Successful Talent ensure guest arrival and seating operations run smoothly so that guests have a pleasant experience.
First point of contact for guests in a restaurant setting. Managing the flow of guests, overseeing table rotations, and ensuring the overall efficiency of seating arrangements. Excel in high-pressure environments, maintaining a calm and welcoming demeanor while ensuring that guests are seated promptly and the dining experience runs smoothly.
Responsibilities
Guest Greeting & Welcome: Greet guests with a warm, friendly, and professional attitude as they arrive, ensuring a positive first impression.
Waitlist Management: Accurately manage the waitlist system, provide realistic wait times, and maintain flow by seating guests efficiently based on availability and dining sections.
Reservation Management: Take and manage dining reservations, ensuring accurate records are maintained and communicated to the rest of the team.
Seating & Table Rotations: Escort guests to their designated seating area, announce their server’s name, and ensure proper table rotation to optimize seating efficiency.
Guest Assistance: Provide additional assistance to guests requiring special accommodations, such as children, elderly patrons, or guests with disabilities.
Communication with Wait Staff: Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure all tables are assigned according to availability and server sections.
Customer Service: Handle guest inquiries, address concerns or complaints in a timely manner, and ensure customer satisfaction, escalating issues to management when necessary.
Reception Area Maintenance: Keep the guest reception area tidy and welcoming, ensuring that menus, waiting areas, and seating arrangements are well-organized.
Handling Special Requests: Manage requests for specific seating preferences, special occasions, or other guest needs, ensuring their experience is personalized and positive.
Multi-tasking: Maintain composure while handling multiple tasks, including managing the phone, answering queries, and coordinating with servers.
High-Pressure Management: Demonstrate the ability to manage large crowds, high traffic, and peak service hours with calmness and efficiency.
Requirements
Previous experience as a Host/Hostess or Waiter/Waitress
Understanding of hospitality etiquette
Familiarity with health and safety regulations
Experience in managing reservations
Demonstrable customer-service skills
Excellent communication skills (via phone and in-person)
Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining and bar area
Physical ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
