Cook - Prep - Catering
Jitjatjo is looking for energetic and hardworking team members who are comfortable working in fast-paced kitchen environments.
Catering Prep Cooks are passionate about food and support the leading chefs with ingredient preparation, basic cooking, and prepare simple dishes such as salads and entrees. Successful Talent multitask, operate with minimal supervision, and carefully follow directions. Prep Cooks maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and taking out trash.
Preparing ingredients and components for large-scale catered events. Expertise in ingredient preparation, food storage, and the assembly of items that will be served at high-volume events—sometimes 500+ guests, such as weddings, galas, and corporate functions. Ensures that everything is ready for the line cooks and event chefs to execute seamlessly during service.
Responsibilities
* Ingredient Prep: Prepare, chop, slice, and measure ingredients for large-scale catering events, ensuring consistent portion sizes and accurate measurements.
* Pre-Cooking Tasks: Prepare meats, vegetables, and other components for cooking, ensuring items are ready for cooking stations to execute during service.
* Food Assembly: Assemble simple dishes, such as salads, sandwiches, or appetizers, according to catering menus.
* Storage & Labeling: Label, store, and rotate ingredients to maintain freshness, using proper food safety protocols and keeping everything organized for easy access.
* Temperature Control: Ensure that all items are stored at the proper temperatures and are ready for cooking at the event location.
* Assist with Cooking: Perform basic cooking duties, such as grilling, sautéing, or frying, under the direction of the lead chefs.
* Maintaining Cleanliness: Ensure that all kitchen areas, including prep stations and storage areas, are kept clean and sanitized according to food safety guidelines.
* Collaborating with Event Staff: Work closely with event planners, chefs, and other kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation and smooth event service.
Requirements
Own a knife kit and chef coat
Previous experience as a prep cook or line cook working in a restaurant, commissary, or catering environment.
Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, knife skills, ingredients, equipment, and procedures in the kitchen.
Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks with strong attention to detail.
Physical ability to lift/carry heavy equipment and stand for long periods of time.
Must understand and execute food safety and sanitation protocols.
Familiar with industry best practices.
Excellent verbal communication and organization skills.
Responsible, trustworthy, and team player qualities.
