Cook - Line - Catering
Jitjatjo is looking for energetic and hardworking team members who are comfortable working in fast-paced kitchen environments.
Catering Line Cooks are passionate about food and support the leading chefs with ingredient preparation, station service, and cooking dishes. Successful Talent multitask, operate with minimal supervision, and carefully follow directions for food service.
Prepares high-quality meals in a high-volume catering environment, such as for weddings, corporate parties, and galas. Expertise in a variety of cooking techniques to serve large guest counts—sometimes 500+ guests. Manage multiple cooking stations, execute dishes quickly, and work as part of a large team to ensure service runs smoothly and efficiently, all while maintaining high standards of food safety and presentation.
Responsibilities
* High-Volume Cooking: Prepare and cook food for large events, ensuring that all dishes are served quickly, simultaneously, and at the correct temperature for large groups.
* Service Style: Familiarity with catering-specific service styles, including buffet, plated, or family-style service, and the ability to manage both pre-event prep and during-event service.
* Menu Execution: Follow the menu and prep sheet, ensuring consistency and high quality across hundreds of servings per dish.
* Team Coordination: Collaborate with other kitchen staff, servers, and event managers to ensure smooth service during high-pressure events.
* Food Safety & Sanitation: Adhere to proper food handling, storage, and temperature control protocols, including the use of PPE to prevent contamination.
* Station Efficiency: Maintain and organize cooking stations, ensuring that ingredients are prepped in advance and dishes are plated and garnished efficiently.
* Cleaning & Maintenance: Clean work areas, utensils, and equipment regularly to ensure the kitchen maintains a safe and sanitary environment throughout the event.
* Guest Satisfaction: Ensure food quality and presentation meet the expectations of high-profile clients at catered events, adjusting to specific dietary restrictions as required.
Requirements
Own a knife kit and chef coat
Previous experience as a cook/chef working in a restaurant, commissary, or catering environment.
Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, knife skills, ingredients, equipment and procedures in the kitchen.
Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks with strong attention to detail.
Physical ability to lift/carry heavy equipment and stand for long periods of time.
Must understand and execute food safety and sanitation protocols.
Familiar with industry best practices.
Excellent verbal communication and organization skills.
Responsible, trustworthy, and team player qualities.
