Cook - Concessions Prep
Preparing ingredients and assembling basic food items for high-volume events like stadiums, fairs, and concerts. The job includes tasks such as chopping, slicing, steaming, and organizing ingredients, as well as reheating pre-cooked foods, assembling ready-to-serve items, and keeping the workstation clean and stocked.
Responsibilities
Ingredient Preparation: Wash, peel, slice, chop, and prepare vegetables, fruits, and meats for use in various concession-style dishes, ensuring everything is ready for cooking or assembly.
Reheating & Assembly: Reheat pre-cooked food items (such as pre-cooked hot dogs, fries, or other snacks) and assemble them into ready-to-serve portions according to the menu.
Basic Cooking Tasks: Perform light cooking duties such as steaming, microwaving, or finishing off foods to be served (e.g., heating frozen foods or assembling sandwiches).
Food Labeling & Storage: Label and store prepared ingredients according to food safety guidelines, ensuring everything is correctly dated and stored at the right temperatures.
Maintaining Stock Levels: Oversee inventory levels for ingredients and packaging, notifying the kitchen manager or supervisor when supplies need to be replenished.
Station Maintenance: Keep the prep area organized and clean, ensuring all tools, equipment, and work surfaces are sanitized and ready for use.
Handling & Safety: Follow food safety standards, including monitoring temperature zones, proper storage techniques, and adhering to OSHA protocols regarding safe food handling and PPE.
Assist in Event Setup: Assist in setting up concession stands, including preparing food stations, arranging supplies, and ensuring the layout is functional for high-volume service.
Customer Assistance: In some cases, help package food items and assist with food distribution in a customer-facing role, maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
Waste Management: Ensure that any unused or waste ingredients are disposed of properly and that the kitchen area remains clean and organized throughout the event.
Requirements
* Previous experience in kitchen production.
* Willingness to work in large venues (stadium, concession, convention center, or similar)
* Understanding of food preparation fundamentals.
* Ability to follow recipes.
* Sound understanding of food allergies and food born illnesses.
* Excellent communication skills
